Nuwara Eliya - Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, you will visit Gayathri Peedam and Seatha Amman Temple. Visit Hakgala Botanical Garden (Ashoka Vatika)– Optional Next, Tea Factory and Tea plantation. Evening, you will do the Nuwara Eliya city tour. Back to the hotel and relax at the hotel. Overnight stay at Nuwara Eliya hotel. Gayathri Peedam - The first and most important temple built for Gayathri Amman (Gayatri being an aspect of Saraswati and the Universal Mother) in Sri Lanka. Gayathri Peedam is said to be the place from where King Ravana's son Meghanath propitiated Lord Shiva with penance and worship, before he was granted supernatural powers by the mighty god. Seetha Amman Temple - Sri Seetha Amman temple is a unique temple situated in Nuwara Eliya. This is believed to be the place where Seeta lived most of the time of her captivity according to the historical Legend of Ramayana. It is also unique in a way that it is one of the very few temples dedicated to Seeta. The place also has footmarks of the monkey god Hanuman. Ashoka Vatika - Optional Ashoka Vatika is a beautiful garden in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, linked to the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana. According to legend, it is where Sita, wife of Lord Rama, was held captive by the demon king Ravana. Today, Ashoka Vatika is a serene and picturesque garden, filled with lush greenery and vibrant flowers. Visitors can explore this historic and tranquil site, reflecting on its mythological significance and natural beauty. Tea Factory & Tea Plantation visit Nuwara Eliya is the heart of the tea industry, where tea bushes cover rolling hills. If you are travelling on a working day, you will never mis the scenery of tea pluckers working in the tea fields, like butterflies in their colorful sarees. Tea had been one of the main exports in Sri Lanka for by-gone decades. On your way, you will see acres & acres of greenery, tea plantations all around. Step into a tea factory and experience the glimpse of the Ceylon tea making process and taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea. Nuwara Eliya City Tour - Known as Little England, the town of Nuwara Eliya enjoys spring-like weather throughout the year. A favorite retreat of the British during colonial times, the town is dotted with English country style houses and half-timbered bungalows. During this tour you will visit Victoria Park, Gregory Lake, 19th century Golf Club and drive around the city.
